We’ve played around here with some overlapping. Overall it adds to the ethereal look i was after, but the images by themselves are so pure and clean that they don’t need anything else.

Here they are! the final cuts from our photoshoot

Here is an example of some of the reinforcing i did on the knit sleeves.

Market

Last night i got my first bout of nerves about presenting my collection. The Company We Keep has been my life (literally) for 9 months now and so anything i say when i go to talk about A Tale of Two just doesn’t live up to the expectation i have of the collection. I have however found the perfect wee shop that the collection fits in to perfectly. It’s called House of Aroha and it’s located in Napier. Full of art, jewellery and New Zealand designed clothing and owned by the most fantastic creative and most chilled out people I’ve ever met. The owners also share a huge love for New Zealand and it’s dramatic landscapes and there art work and shop styling supports this entirely. Stocking labels such as

Beth Ellery / Camille Howie / Company of Strangers / Coulthard / Descendant / Harlowe / Helen Cherry / Karen Walker / Kate Sylvester / Kowtow / Mister / Nikki Gabriel / Nom*D / Paper Roses / Rockwell / Salasai / Standard Issue / The Quiet Life / Workshop Denim / Zambesi / Karen Walker Jewellery / The Critical Slide Society

A Tale of Two would fit here perfectly.

the company we keep is about ‘the people - ‘the place’ and ‘the product’. The jumper was knitted by the most adorable grandmother named Marie and we thought it only fitting to name it after her so she took the liberty of sewing her name into a calico tag. It is the nicest little touch and gives us a little bit of background about where the garment came from. Our other adorable Nana (Doreen) knitted us a scarf for the jacket, she posted it back to us in brown paper with bailing twine tied around it and this adorable little note - think we’ll have to name the jacket after her too.

sooooooooooo, we’ve had our photoshoot. and it was the most epic day ever. After weeks of 14 hour days and no sleep we were finally able to relax and enjoy the fruits of our labours. The garments were looking fab, the girls looked amazing and thanks to our parents kind donations we had an amazing abundance of picnic food as well as beers and wine. An hour before photoshoot kick off i decided i wasn’t happy with the location we’d chosen and my gut instinct took over and told me we had to go to Carterton, luckily we were able to track down the farmer(robbie) whose property it was and he was happy to helpĀ  us. So we packed everyone up, grabbed our i-pod’s and took a wee road trip out into the country side. It fitted perfectly, the whole day/location/vibe/people were perfect. Here’s a sneak preview of a few behind the scenes shots.
